1. Slow Down on Curves and Corners
The most common reason players lose Quality Score is taking corners too fast. Dressmaker's sewing machine has built-in momentum. If you try to aggressively turn the fabric while the needle is moving at top speed, you will stray off the dotted line.
The Trick: As you approach a curve or a sharp corner, physically pull your mouse down towards yourself to drastically lower the needle speed. Once the machine is ticking slowly (one stitch at a time), gently adjust the horizontal pivot.
2. Beware of Mouse Sensitivity
The game's steering mechanism is highly sensitive. Your quality score can drop from 100% to 95% in a fraction of a second if you jerk the mouse too hard.
- Micro-adjustments: Make tiny, smooth lateral movements rather than sweeping arcs.
- Align before accelerating: Ensure the dotted line is perfectly straight beneath the needle before pushing your mouse up to gain speed on long, straight seams.

3. How to "Undo" a Bad Seam
A frequently asked question in the community is: "Is there a seam-rip or undo button?"
Currently, there is no seam-rip function. If your score drops to 80% and you want another shot at perfection, the only way to retry is to intentionally fail the current seam. Steer the needle completely off the fabric to "ruin" the stitch; the game will discard the ruined thread and allow you to re-do that specific seam from the beginning. While slightly tedious, it's the only way to guarantee a 100% final garment rating.
4. Practice Makes Perfect
Remember that Dressmaker is designed with an intentional skill curve. Your first few dresses might score 70-80%, and that's completely fine! Completing orders, even imperfect ones, grants you money to buy more patterns from the shop. As your muscle memory improves, 100% quality scores will become second nature.
